Module 9 - Treatment Plan Recommendations: Gastrointestinal Indications 

This ninth module of the Santé Cannabis Prescriber Training Program details treatment plan recommendations for gastrointestinal indications (especially inflammatory bowel disease and irritable bowel syndrome) in five sections.

SECTION I

Describes gastrointestinal indications to medical cannabis (inflammatory bowel disease and irritable bowel syndrome) as well as other gastrointestinal conditions of interest(gastroparesis and cannabinoid hyperemesis syndrome) and provides realistic therapeutic goals of a cannabinoid-based treatment.

SECTION II

Presents medical guidelines for Quebec prescribers, summarizes pharmaceutical and non-pharmaceutical conventional treatments for focused gastrointestinal indications.

SECTION III

Gives a general overview of the scientific evidence supporting the use of cannabinoid-based medicines to alleviate specific gastrointestinal conditions.

SECTION IV

Provides cannabinoid-based treatment recommendations concerning pharmaceutical cannabinoids, medical cannabis, administration route, cannabinoid selection and special considerations to keep in mind.

SECTION V

Presents two case studies and summarizes learnings from this and prior modules.
